Lutton School celebrates Ofsted turn-around
11:20am Wednesday 8th February 2012

STAFF, governors, pupils and parents at Luttons CP School, West Lutton, are celebrating with the news that the school has been taken out of ‘special measures’.
The school team was told just before Christmas that Ofsted inspectors had judged Luttons to be a ‘good’ school, removing the special measures they had previously imposed.
Rachel Macdonald, chairman of the board of governors, said it was fantastic news.
She said: “All the staff, children, parents and governors have worked very hard to improve the school and, as we were hoping to be out of special measures by Easter 2012, to achieve it by Christmas 2011, and to be judged as good, is a double celebration.”
Improvements made by Lutton CP School have been recognised by Ofsted who judged it as an overall ‘good’ following an inspection in November.
Rachel said the staff had worked extremely hard and the governors would like to thank them for their hard work and strength through what had been a difficult time.
“They have motivated and supported the children in their learning, promoting an environment where the children enjoy their lessons while they work hard to achieve their personal learning goals,” she added.
“The staff have also made significant enhancements to their own professional development and the resulting team is well qualified and motivated to take the school forward.
“Without the continued support from parents and the belief that they have in the school, the task of coming out of ‘special measures’ would have been almost impossible, so we thank them as well.”
Since the inspection in March 2010, when the school was put in ‘special measures’, there have been a number of improvements supported by North Yorkshire County Council.
