2:26pm Wednesday 22nd February 2012
EXPLORATION work is being carried out by York Potash which is making test drillings on sites in the North York Moors National Park.
The company, based at Wykeham and part of the Sirius Minerals group, says the exploratory drilling will lead to planning applications for a major development test. The drillings are currently taking place in Ugglebarnby, Hawsker and Sneatonthorpe.
York Potash says its proposals will create the UK’s first potash mine for 40 years, will involve investment of between £2 and £3 billion and create 1,000 jobs directly and thousands more indirectly.
