Pickering Town go forward after white-out
3:00pm Wednesday 8th February 2012
PICKERING Town were set to sign striker Luke Jenkinson in time for Saturday’s Northern Counties East League premier division trip to Liversedge (3pm).
Boss Jimmy Reid – disappointed last weekend’s game against Armthorpe fell foul of the big white-out in local football given that it stalled his side’s resurgence – will be without Michael McNaughton for two weekends due to work commitments, but Darren Clough is back to full fitness after his nasty injury at Grangetown in the North Riding CFA Senior Cup game last month. He would have been involved against Armthorpe.
And Jenkinson, son of Terry Jenkin-son, who was a key man in Nigel Tate’s successful Pikes team in the 1990s, could also be available on his arrival from Scarborough & District League leaders Edgehill. The coach leaves the Recreation Club at 11.45am and Old Malton at noon.
Kirkbymoorside, whose Wearside League game against Silksworth was among those to be off, will also be out of action this Saturday as opponents Prudhoe must instead play a Northumberland County FA Cup tie postponed from last weekend.
Whitby Town were hit in the pocket as they had anticipated a sizeable crowd for their postponed Evo-Stik League game at home to FC United of Manchester. Whitby go to Matlock this Saturday.
